It's possible to trade profitably on the Forex, the nearly $2 trillion worldwide currency exchange market. But the odds are against you, even more so if you don't prepare and plan your trades. According to a 2014 Bloomberg report, several analyses of retail Forex trading, including one by the National Futures Association (NFA), the industry's regulatory body, concluded that more than two out of three Forex traders lose money. This suggests that self-education and caution are recommended. Here are some approaches that may improve your odds of taking a profit. Prepare Before You Begin Trading Because the Forex market is highly leveraged -- as much as 50 to 1 -- it can have the same appeal as buying a lottery ticket: some small chance of making a killing. This, however, isn't trading; it's gambling, with the odds long against you. A better way of entering the Forex market is to carefully prepare. Beginning with a practice account is helpful and risk-free. While you're trading in your practice account, read the most frequently recommended Forex trading books, among them Currency Forecasting: A Guide to Fundamental and Technical Models of Exchange Rate Determination, by Michael R. Rosenberg is short, not too sweet and highly admired introduction to the Forex market. Forex Strategies: Best Forex Strategies for High Profits and Reduced Risk, by Matthew Maybury is an excellent introduction to Forex trading. The Little Book of Currency Trading: How to Make Big Profits in the World of Forex, by Kathy Lien is another concise introduction that has stood the test of time. All three are available on Amazon. Rosenberg's book, unfortunately, is pricey, but it's widely available in public libraries. "Trading in the Zone: Master the Market with Confidence, Discipline and a Winning Attitude," by Mark Douglas is another good book that's available on Amazon, and, again, somewhat pricey, although the Kindle edition is not. Use the information gained from your reading to plan your trades before plunging in. The more you change your plan, the more you end up in trouble and the less likely that elusive forex profit will end up in your pocket. Diversify and Limit Your Risks Two strategies that belong in every trader's arsenal are: Diversification: Traders who execute many small traders, particularly in different markets where the correlation between markets is low, have a better chance of making a profit. Putting all your money in one big trade is always a bad idea. Familiarize yourself with ways guaranteeing a profit on an already profitable order, such as a trailing stop, and of limiting losses using stop and limit orders. These strategies and more are covered in the recommended books. Novice traders often make the mistake of concentrating on how to win; it's even more important to understand how to limit your losses. Be Patient Forex traders, particularly beginners, are prone to getting nervous if a trade does not go their way immediately, or if the trade goes into a little profit they get itchy to pull the plug and walk away with a small profit that could have been a significant profit with little downside risk using appropriate risk reduction strategies. In "On Any Given Sunday," Al Pacino reminds us that "football is a game of inches." That's a winning attitude in the Forex market as well. Remember that you are going to win some trades and lose others. Take satisfaction in the accumulation of a few more wins than losses. Over time, that could make you rich!

Lemon Crumble Breakfast Cake

This moist, téndér caké is éasy to maké and toppéd with a swéét crumblé topping thén dustéd with powdéréd sugar.  Whéthér you sérvé it for bréakfast, brunch, aftérnoon téa or déssért, you’ll bé basking in énthusiastic, sunny compliménts! I’m not suré who coinéd thé phrasé “bréakfast caké” but I’m all ovér it.  I guéss you could call it cofféé caké or brunch caké too, but I réally liké thé idéa of caké for bréakfast.  

 This lémony caké is not ovérly swéét, so adding thé swéét crumblé topping givés you a littlé éxtra bité of crunchy lémon goodnéss that’s liké icing on thé caké!
Ingrédiénts
For thé Crumblé Topping:
  • 4 tabléspoons unsaltéd buttér, méltéd
  • 3/4 cup all-purposé flour
  • 1/3 cup granulatéd sugar
  • 1 tabléspoon frésh lémon juicé
  • zést of 1 lémon

For thé Lémon Caké:
  • 2 cups all-purposé flour
  • 1/2 téaspoon salt
  • 2 téaspoons baking powdér
  • 1/2 cup unsaltéd buttér, room témpératuré
  • zést from 2 lémons (préférably organic)
  • 3/4 cup granulatéd sugar
  • 2 largé éggs, room témpératuré
  • 1 1/2 téaspoons vanilla béan pasté
  • 1/2 cup buttérmilk, wéll shakén (wholé fat or wholé milk mixéd with 1 1/2 téaspoons vinégar)
  • 1/4 cup frésh lémon juicé (about 2 lémons)
  • powdéréd sugar for dusting if désiréd

Instructions
For thé Crumblé Topping:
  1. Mélt 4 tabléspoons of buttér in a small bowl.  Add thé flour, sugar, lémon juicé and zést.  Mix with a fork to combiné.  Sét asidé.
For thé Caké:
  1. Préhéat ovén to 325 dégréés.  Invért thé bottom of an 8" springform pan (to maké it éasiér to slidé thé caké off thé bottom) thén lock on thé sidés of thé pan. Lightly gréasé and flour thé bottom and sidés of thé pan.  Liné thé bottom with a round of parchmént papér and sét asidé.
  2. In a small bowl combiné thé flour, salt and baking powdér.  Sét asidé.
  3. In thé bowl of a stand mixér fittéd with thé paddlé attachmént, combiné thé buttér, lémon zést, and sugar.  Béat for sévéral minutés until light and fluffy.  Scrapé down thé sidés of thé bowl as néédéd.  
  4. Béat in thé éggs and vanilla béan pasté just until bléndéd.
  5. In a méasuring cup with a spout, combiné thé buttérmilk with thé lémon juicé.  Add 1/3 of thé flour mixturé to thé créaméd buttér and sugar.  Béat on low until incorporatéd.  Add 1/3 of thé buttérmilk mixturé and blénd until smooth.  Répéat adding 1/3 of thé flour, thén 1/3 of thé buttérmilk until both aré incorporatéd.  
  6. Pour thé battér into thé préparéd pan and spréad événly.  Sprinklé with thé crumblé topping (léaving somé in largé clumps) and baké in thé préhéatéd ovén for 40 minutés or until thé top is lightly brownéd and a toothpick insértéd in thé céntér comés out almost cléan.  
  7. Cool thé caké on a wiré rack for at léast 30 minutés if sérving warm, or cool complétély béforé rémoving thé sidés.  Caréfully slidé thé caké onto a sérving plattér and dust with powdéréd sugar béforé sérving.  For a simplé lémon glazé mix togéthér 1/2 cup powdéréd sugar with énough frésh lémon juicé for a drizzling consisténcy.  Drizzlé on top of thé caké just béforé sérving.  Optional:  sérvé with Lémon Whippéd Mascarponé Créam and frésh fruit.  Récipé bélow

A féw of our réadérs said thé caké was soméwhat dry on thé outsidé and wét in thé middlé. If you'ré concérnéd, pléasé baké in a 9x9-inch squaré pan and adjust thé baking timé as listéd bélow.
This caké can bé bakéd in a 9x9" squaré pan, or a round 8" or 9" caké pan.  If using a 9" pan, bé suré to adjust thé baking timé.  Chéck aftér 30 minutés to énsuré it doésn't ovér-baké.
